Mobile COVID Test Stations for system-relevant Industries in Lower Saxony (sub-project ‘MCA-Response’) (completed)

A transdisciplinary consortium has developed mobile coronavirus testing stations with the aim of regularly testing as many people as possible in system-relevant areas for the coronavirus in the shortest possible time. The aim is to improve the evidence base on the spread of the virus and give employees more certainty about their infection status. The increase in testing capacities also makes an important contribution to protecting the health of the population and effectively containing the Sars-CoV-2 virus. The project is supported by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony. The infrastructure developed will also be transferable to other locations and regions.

The Mobile Corona Analytics (MCA) project focuses on reliable and rapidly available testing for Sars-CoV-2 among employees in system-relevant industries. In the sub-project (‘MCA-Response’) based at [HC]², attitudes, experiences and the assessment of the information situation from the perspective of the tested persons are surveyed in three longitudinal studies and compared with the perceptions and assessments of the population in Lower Saxony. In addition, the media coverage of tests for Sars-CoV-2 during the course of the pandemic will be analysed. In this way, the dynamics of problem perceptions and assessments, information needs and information behaviour as well as public discourse will be traced. This should also help to recognise communication challenges for testing and to be able to meet them better in the future, to further develop the mobile testing infrastructure and to adapt it to the needs of employees. The project partners are Prof Dr Stefanie Heiden and Prof Dr Thomas Scheper from Leibniz Universität Hannover and Prof Dr Meike Stiesch from Hannover Medical School.
