The life phases of the desire to have children, pregnancy, birth and parenthood are characterised by uncertainties and decision-making situations in which information and exchange with like-minded people can provide support in reducing uncertainty. Based on an analysis of posts in the online community urbia.de and a survey of users, we are investigating which sources of information on pregnancy are used and which functions the online community can fulfil with regard to overcoming uncertainty and social support in the context of pregnancy. The project is being carried out in co-operation with urbia and in collaboration with Hannah Früh, University of Fribourg.
